Hi all, the 27th Sthn.Classic is coming. As per every other year the great racing accompanied with the off track entertainment should be a "NOT TO BE MISSED" entry on everyones calendar. (racers and spectators alike) There is a good probability the 350cc and 500cc Period 3 will be separate races, dependant on entries. GET THOSE ENTRIES IN ASAP Looking forward to seeing all of you at another great meeting Cheers Keith.

Well said Keith. Yes, its coming up again. Let's work to make it bigger and better than ever. Where are the 125s? Where are the 250s? Bigger isn't better, its only bigger. So bloody what? Big mouth me who hasn't yet got a bike finished. Working at it, working at it. It doesn't matter if you haven't got a bike to ride, just get there and let's make it one big PARTY! We are celebrating OUR sport. Cheers, John |

I will hopefully make it!
Just got the engine back together - even properly timed the cam..... only to find that I have only .025" EX valve to piston clearance!!!
Have to pull it all apart again and get the pocket deepened by .040" or so........ DAMMIT!!
Fingers crossed I can get it done in time.
You coming over GD?

That's a Roger, mate, Eddie Preston and I will be returning, the fun and hospitality we enjoyed last time makes the lengthy drive over worthwhile, it's a good fun meeting on a great little track and we had a ball, we'll also be armed with info and updates about the Nats the following month, looking forward to catching up with many of our good friends in Vic. |

I e-mailed MANSW last week for contact details for regular NSW riders and have had a great response so far. Those I have spoken to who are coming are all really keen and speak fondly about their past experiences at Broadford. To date about 10 riders confirmed. Have also just rec'd contact from Brett Metcalf from S.A. and he's in also. I have contacted SA clubs President furthering enquiries about some of their 350 P3 riders coming over but have not heard back yet? All in all HMRAV are in a unique position having the wonderful facilities at Broadford to invite riders from OZ wide to participate at meetings. At the present NSW appears to not be holding State title meeting for Historic bikes this year so there are some keen riders looking to go race elsewhere. I beleive the HMRAV can capitalise on this for the Vic Titles next year. Guys and Gals will be wanting to enter title meetings close to home at a proven track with a club dedicated to preserving classic, historic racing..... Rollup people, it is going to be a hoot

Entry in anyway, I have some faith that the saga will honour my humble request to allow me race this year.
C U all there.

We have 160 bikes entered, a heap of 350 Classics, thanks for the support and 10 125cc machines which is a great effort as well. |

Thanks Keith for the nice words. I am just about sick of the silence from everybody else about ideas to improve any meeting. The 125's, 500's and 350's got the break because they responded to the challenge " get the numbers'. Well done to them.
It is dispireting working in the background and finding say in the case of the Mt Buller Challenge, 2 entitries after we had 25 expressions of interest and not a single response to my plea for feedback about actually entering. Max Hooper and I drove to Mt Buller on Monday, met 25 emergency services personel, the Mt Buller people negotiated thye final details and no bastard can be bothered indicating whether they will enter or not. I know some Class C blokes are fronting. Am I fed up, getting close.

So, how did it turn out?
Congratulations HMRAV on a great meeting. I hope you got your ignition problems sorted John; Keith hope you kept Mandy at bay; and Mick that the Duc stopped flooding. Pity I could not race this year, but am looking forward to PI instead!
Cheers.

Thanks Ben, the ignition issues were still prevalent, had to roll over the line on the last race. We have had a lot of good responses to the meeting and we hope we can build it more next time. I think we had about 30 new riders.

Thanks to HMRAV. We had a good time and all that we met were smiling! Our reincarnated bike is slowly but surely getting sorted. Handling is good, just need to sort out the carbs a bit and pull about 30 hp out of my ****, so we can give the front runners a nudge. Bike impressed a lot of people and kept it in one piece and had fun and a best of a 4th, wasn't bad for a block of flats on wheels! See you in Perth with a little further more developed CBX. Make that 2, if my log book comes through in time! Regards Roland Skate, Donny Biddle and crew. Mel Bristow PowerHouse CBX Racing Team.

Congratulations to all involved in running another fabulous meeting. Blokes I spoke to reckon it's the best entered 500 P3 outside P/Island ! Really good efforts were made by all. I counted 13 sidecars in the P4 all scratching hard. P3 350 races were all cleaned up by Mandy "man of the meeting" Beale on Kooistra's ridiculously fast Honda. P3 500 races cleaned up as above by Mandy excepting second race on Sat where I got the better of her by about 2 inches after a racelong battle with lead changes at just about every corner. ( had to beat her once to save the embarrasment of having to wear a dress on the podium if not! ) Thanks for all the encouragement fellas, you know who you are!!! I have already begun the push for April 2009 Vic. Champs and reckon we can acheive another great entry. Kelton Cheeseman won U/L P4 races. Great effort after monumental blow up at Winton. Robbie Phillis came, crook ignition went away, came back and won everything on Sunday. Special invitation race for older riders saw Mick Jones Ducati seize coming down the esses on Sunday sending him to Hospital with busted ribs and collarbone causing several others to come off,but unscathed. Sat was very hot but Sunday much more pleasant with stiff cool breeze and about 20c. Ian Glover's brand new 500 P3 Ducati ran well all weekend and is an absolute pleasure to behold, stunning effort! BBQ and beers in our best circuit in Vic all with great mates couldn't have been better. 44's were all full and the grounds clean, well done by all. The flaggies were as enthusiastic from Practice till last race on Sun- bloody top job! Thanks again to all for another cracking meeting and see you all in April!!!!!!!! Cheers Herbie. Update on Mick Jones: I just spoke with Mick and he didn't have as good a night last night. He still has the suction drain in his left lung. The Doctors spoke to him about his collarbone yesterday but have obviously only been focusing on his lung. To date nothing has been done about sorting his collarbone! I said start making some noise about it and get it treated either Fig 8 strapping/brace or get a surgeon to fix it! He says he'll get onto it after brekky. His mobile phone charger is being X-press posted to him so he can yabber on the phone to us all. Call mobile on 0409 512 572 Hospital 8405 8000 He sounds a bit down today so I am sure he would appreciate some calls. Better times are usually around meal times when most patients are awake! not out for the count after the pain drugs kick in. Cheers again Herbie

Like others here, I would like to thank and congratulate the organisers of this fantastic event. It was our first "Classic" and we had a ball. Took approx 10 sec's off our best time, and couldn't wipe the grins from our faces! Thanks again. Buck and Peen (Sidecar #20, the "extra" Pink Pig) |

Thanks for the update Keith, on the meet and Mick. I spoke to him the other day and he was sounding OK (under the circumstances), at least still wanting to talk about bikes, so hasn't given up on the damn things completely.

Cheers Ben, how's the wrist feeling? F#$%^n bugger.Mick is going to stay with either me or dad tomorrow when he comes out of Hosp. before boarding the Train back to the Missus. Hey Ben, what about MacPark on the 26th Dec? Grouse track, Grouse atmosphere, could be a ripper one to do. Me and Katie have decided tonight we're in. |

Good on you Keith for sorting Mick out, poor bugger didn't have much of a weekend with the Ducati persistently flooding, and then his biff, hope he's mending ok but he'll feel every bump on the bus ride home. Please pass on my regards, it was still good to catch up with all the forum buddies at Broady, and another top meeting, well done HMRAV. |

Just wanted to say thanks to HMRAV for a great meeting as a new rider and my first start in an all classic event had a great time, thankyou. ....But dont mean to sound like a sook apparently #38 P4 ULPC is a ghost bike seems it may be invisable, believe I won 5 out of 6 starts and only lost the Southern Classic because of a jump start and a harsh way I think of making me aware. I was well and truely aware that I had done so , a chequered flag pointed at me on the 4th lap and in the heat of the moment myself and the rider directly behind pulled into pit lane thinking the race was done, not so 2 laps to go. Hope thats not too harsh and dont want to get off on the wrong foot but just had to say my bit. Thanks again and hope to be doing this (racing) for a long time to come. Craig Wiseman
