Bad luck about the Hugie Hoare meeting. It is normally in the Dec. time frame. Insurance comes under ANDRA , the drag association from memory. Somebody could follow up. |

I followed up the issue of insurance. Sprint insurance is almost nothing. If we apply for an MA permit the cost would be about $20 each plus the rider levy and then the normal levels of insurance we are used to would apply.See page 73 of the current rule book or section 10. Every competitor would require an MA licence and we can offer a one event licence of about $50 because it could be run as a club event. Let us know what your thoughts are? |

Accommodation is available Mike Panayi has sent this message. "Hi John I have no problems with that at all, sounds good, plenty of room here if anyone wanted to bring a swag and stay the night. The Allies Hotel is just about across the road, could go there for dinner. Keep me informed. Mick "

I maybe thought that Old Donk would have chimed in with his thinking on people who run without MA licences but alas he is silent this time ................ |

Andra is fine as long as they have the same conditions as MA ..... which I doubt. Do they have the same benifits John ? |

The benefits from the drag insurance seem to be nil. The benefits from MA are quite extensive by comparison and detailed in the GCR's. A major stumbling block is that if the sidecars are running on MA permits, the other solos from the sprint groups do not run MA licencing etc and thus the whole meeting may not be possible with bikes under different permitting systems. |

I shall speak with the organiser. It depends whether other competitors are interested to get involved with MA. I know one who was injured and got nothing. He actually changed down instead of up and spent a long time repairing himself afterwards. I will compete anyway, but the other sprint group may never have thought of insurance before. |

Patrick, thanks for the invitation to say something. I notice most of the MA insure only applies when you are seriously injured or even dead. As somebody who always bleeds when I hear of people playing shonky tricks with licencing, in this case I wonder if there is any alternative anyway. I hear that the Heathcote is a grade 2 track which means that ANDRA licences are not required, so the chances of encouraging other solo riders to come on board the MA system are pretty remote.
Its my guess it would be best to use the system offerred by the track for solos and consider getting a permit for the sidecars only.

Sprint racing is lots of fun and not a lot of risk so hope you all have a good time. Then of course after the drags you can also come and cheer on the endurance racers late Sunday afternoon at Broadford. [terrible gratuitous post to promote Broadford]
