Are we having a National Championship this year or has it been canned due to lack of interest? We here in the wild wild west havent heard a word maybe someone could enlighten us.
I wont go on about how we need time to organise things due to the distance etc because that has been well documented in the past.
Maybe ( he says tongue in cheek ) we are too good for you guys and you are trying to keep the event a secret.
hope someone can tell us what is happening.

Isn't it at Eastern Creek this year as listed in the You must be logged in to see this link. on this site?

There has not been much promoting it at all anywhere, including MA's web site.

Rumour is that they will be running p4 and p5 at the Island as a warm up race for the GP. Anybody else heard this? If its true it will probably take a lot to get p4 and p5 blokes to Sydney the following week.

If the rumour is *true*, then that would be twice in one year that an event at PI for these classes, has run the week before a major Historic meeting at the Creek.......one would hope this is just an unfortunate coincidence.

The 2008 calendars should take these issues into account.

Yes David I do believe that it is at Eastern Creek, this was my way of starting some dialogue on the meeting as there has been absolutely zero information flow into WA and I wondered about the other states. They do need to get cracking though if they want a successful meeting, by this time last year we were all bombed up and raring to go.

Couldn't agree more with other comments.
Are we having a Championship Meeting or not?
Let's get the 2006 "flyer" off the top of this page and replace it with the 2007 one eh?

Thanks for the info. Still no entry forms or supp regs though and it is still hopefully in a stage of development as the classes do not list Period 5. The rumour mill has it that entries are much higher than in recent years, lets hope they arent or that they do not frighten too many people off if they are. At least something is happening at long last.

Allan,

I would say it is just an error on the site. I found this in another section on the page. Forgotten Era 1973 to December 1980

Big brutes and Production racers dominate this period, CB1100 Hondas, The Suzuki GSX 1000 and GSX 1100, the BMW R90s and the production Yamaha TZ125, 250, 350 and 750 production racers along with the very first Honda RS125's.

Also big in this class are a host of converted road bikes including the Yamaha RD series.

Thank God for Jim Scaysbrook, without him we'd have no memory of anything!! I now know I'm getting old! I just read Kavo's last post. Surely you guys must all be old enough to remember what happened in road racing in the late 70s?? I suggest it's a sign of a real problem with historic racing. My memory of road racing goes back to the 50s, and I'm 65. Surely blokes in their 40s must remember the days when real motorbikes appeared - when Mcgee, Willing, Sayle, Phillis (who?), Campbell, Horsman, Johnson(s),Toombs were the big names in road racing? I was interested in the mention of RD350 Yamahas. In the early 70s they were like backsides - everybody had one!

Is your machine authentic or merely eligible?

Alan - I have just turned 45, and all those names are like 'God' to me - as a young bloke I regularly attended Bathurst from 1980 to 1985 (got arrested at the last 'real' Bathurst in 1985 ) - I can clearly recall the old 'Superbike' races from back in those days, and there are a lot of other racers within PCRA who have been around since those days as well......its just that 99% of them don't post answers on forums like this one - only a handful of members take the time to do this.

I have seen Barney Horseman win at Bathurst over 25 years ago, and race as recently as the Island Classic this year - it was great to see him still out there, and competitive.

cheers
Dave
