Are you saying the National Single Event Licence for Historics has only been introduced on a trial basis?

The two classes I mentioned are historic. One already is documented in the GCRs. Are we to be tied up in arguments about what is an 'historic bike'? If a club wants to run New Era 1`&2 do they have to get the rules for the class into the GCRs so it is officially 'historic'? Both Forgotten Era and New Era 1&2 present a golden opportunity for young guys to get into racing historics. Undoubtedly prior racing experience is essential before a Single Event Licence is issued, however why should the licence be limited to riders of older historic bikes? Don't we recognise that a pre 95 bike is 'historic'?
Seems to me that there is a typical level of indecision associated with the determination to allow use of Single Event Licences for historics. The name of the game should be 'get more guys racing historics'!
Do heritage BEARS get counted as 'historics'?
Is the criterion for establishing if a bike is 'historic', whether it has a log book or not? Seems to me those log books are being used for some very strange purposes?

I suggest permission to issue Single Event Licences should depend on the program submitted to MA/MV when the insurance fees are paid for the meeting by the promoter.

Alan Cotterell, why dont you just focus on what is common practice and stop trying to reinvent the wheel. MA has made a very timely concession in an attempt to encourage more Historic machines back to the track and should be congratulated for that.

If club level events are accomodating modern machines then good for them our club does the same but to call a 1995 machine Historic is quite laughable, C & D Grade riders are still using machines this old in Modern Racing as entry level bikes.

If newer era classes are required in due course take the proper action and make a submission to the Commission so it can be properly discussed across the country rather than by just the few of us the use this site.

What Keith suggested in supporting events is quite right and thats what we should be doing. Why dont you bring your bike out to play sometime and help make the numbers up.

How is it you guys know all the ins and outs of the new licence? What is the link to the press release? I'd like to know what the requirements are to get the licence, and what we are and are not allowed to do with it.

I've already started spending money to get the TZ up and going for next May at Winton. Can you tell me where I can see the 'rules' for the new licence, so I don't waste my time and money, if there's anything funny there?
I won't be getting a full licence to have only one or two rides per year, and if the single event licence has too many restrictions, I won't do that either.
At present, apart from David White's letter,everything about the licence is hearsay.

Sorry about getting a bit toey, guys. I've wanted the licence for a couple of years now, and I'd be really disappointed to get knocked back on a technicality. I'm about to get a log book for the TZ, as I believe that''s my best bet for a good ride. I don't think I'll race the Seeley/Commando, as it's not a 750 yet, and I don't believe you have a class for a 750 P4 bike anyway. I've got a couple of RD250LCs which are more promising.
I believe the Single Event Licence for Historics is a great idea, even if there might be a bit of difficulty with insurances for riders who don't ride often, it'll be worth it.

Unfortunately to gain information it is often necessary to be a regular member of a club or an MA associated committee, communications has never been an MA strong point but it is apparently being worked on. The best place for you Victorians to get your info as you should well know is either from the horses mouth i.e. MA or from your club secretary John Daley. This was all confirmed at the recent MA Council Meeting and the minutes of this meeting should be just about in the post so be patient and all will officially be revealed.
In answer to the other comment about a 750 class, this was introduced a few years ago as a support class to encourage the supposed masses of Triumph, Norton, BSAs etc that were supposed to be laying around in sheds. The longer term idea being to convert this to Championship status as soon as numbers built up and made it viable. In WA we ran them concurrently as a support class in the Nationals in 2003 and awarded trophies for them and for the 700 class in Period 3. As is the case almost all of the time the oportunities are there if you know and understand the GCRs and use them to your advantage.

When I was a kid, ALL the CB750s were 750cc or at most 830cc. Most of the Triumphs and BSAs were 650s, except for the triples. It's probably too late to run a P4 750 class now, they're all dead and gone.
I'll br riding a TZ350 at Winton in May provided the Single Event Licence is available.
