What a blast!!!! Anyone who missed this years championships has done themselves a serious disservice. The organisation while a little rusty was good, the riders on and off the track were excellent, and the local support was amongst the best I have seen in many years. On top of all that the Clerk of Course proved to be understanding and while he didnt pull any punches he also didnt talk down to competitors or be over officious (hope thats spelt right)
The difference between last year and this is as far removed as it could get, they even put on presentations at the end of the weekend along with a sausage sizzle and drinks. It just goes to show that given the proper approach our sport can be and is a huge success.
We now need to keep the momentum going and encourage greater participation in a few classes especially my favourite being sidecars but also the smaller classes such as 125s and 250s in all periods.
Congratulations to all competitors especially of course the winners and to the few that managed to injure themselves wish them all a speedy recovery.
Look out Mac Park 2006 this is gunna be big.

Alan, I'm glad you guys had a good time in Tassie. The fact that so many made the effort to go there really looks good for historic motorcycle racing in Australia.
I haven't seen the program, but how many rides did each rider get if he brought one bike, and were the grids full?
Incidently, did you all get your passports stamped on your return to Australia? |
Is your machine authentic or merely eligible? |

What a fantastic meeting, everyone involved deserves a nod for there efforts. Its good to go racing and not have to put up with the winging and whining over rules and issues regarding if a bike complies with some fools boring idea of historic racing, i saw computers hooked up to bevel ducatis, large hondas, tyre warmers on P4 bikes,riders downing redbull and even a souped up scooter and start line issues that could have some dead****s on valium, the silence was marvelous. Well done to all our champs and all riders there, what a top event, Now if i could get Steve Martin to ride my Trex at mac park next year, maybe the place will be packed out too!
The tassie gang should look at historic classic yearly, it will be our own island tt. Hudo |

glad you guys enjoyed the weekend.
I live in tassie and went to my first roadbike meeting since the mid seventies.
It was an absolute eye opener.full credit goes to the competitors who
all were approachable for a talk or info.
To see and hear the older bikes at full noise was incredible.
Glad to see a sense of humour in our sport including some obvious
characters wearing a green fluffy helmet with ears and anothers pit attire included a top hat.
I was thinking you mainlanders were a bit weird but then I sighted
one of our own white long haired and bearded residents wearing trackky daks,cutoff gumboots and a long red shirt with a big belt over it.
Pays not to judge people by their looks as he still owns several
HRD Vincents including a speedway outfit.
anyway,great site,great sport,and best wishes from a rekindled fan

yeah it was good time had by all(apart from those who unintentionally went horizontal)even the bad weather held off,very friendly locals ,especially mike the mechanic in Perth,(Prestige Cars)1 hydraulic puller beats 6 mechanical versions in the pits when clutch basket welded itself to the mainshaft!!,also the impressive buildup/followup stories in newspapers,like front n back pages,following mondays papers especially!!,try that here on mainland?, even AMCN devoted 3 pages,whoohoo,few of us stayed on another week did the tourist bit,still more friendly people,interesting place tassie,even the boat trips worked well!(maybe they can do Phillip isle ferry service from Sydney?),congrats to all the winners too,was all good racing, |
