When are we gonna see classic street racing begin to take hold here in Australia?
In NZ they have created business for failing old gold-mining and coal mining towns by holding an annual street race with classics around the town circuit.
Locals love it as it brings business into the hotels/motels, local shops.
Councils have issues with liability, but when they see the rewards, they are all too happy to assist.
We have some great town like Picton, Gouldburn, even Windsor or Richmond, to create an annual race event that would bring $$$$ into the community and promote enthusiasm.
Anybody want to take a risk and push with me to see this come about.
We gotta keep the sport ALIVE!!!

Marysville in Vic was wiped out by the bushfires. The roads in and around the district are amongst the most popular in the state. (police in camo gear with radars in the bushes)
Depending on the "cause" these events may well get some backing.

Well, you can hope. For years, we had street racing here in the WA wheatbelt. For many small towns, it was the one-off biggest event of the year. We raced at places like Mingenew, Kambalda, Merredin, Collie, Kalgoorlie, Boulder, Donnybrook, Bunbury, Boddington and Albany, and moderns, historics and sidecars peacefully co-existed on one programme. Then in the 1990s, MA got involved, and knocked the street racing on the head, not because of any fatality, or any property damage, but IN CASE things went awry, and someone clipped a kerb and looped a bike into a spectator area. The WA roadrace schedule was halved, and all the wheatbelt towns were left without their annual carnival of speed. Just in case....

Hopefully, MA these days may have a more realistic outlook on street races, and hopefully see meetings like those proposed as an opportunity to promote the sport. Best of luck !
