The Flat Earth Society is having trouble with developing some new concepts. I have an idea to run an old bike race meeting with all participants competing in bracket racing. ie races are run based on lap times rather than classes based on capacity and age. The event would be run by a different club. What do you think about it?

Hi John, Our club in WA has run meetings along these lines with mixed success. As with most ideas like this there will be supporters and detractors of any different concepts. Personally I think its quite a good concept. We normally include bracket races as a warm up at our meetings and finish with normal Historic classes for club championship points. This mix seems to work best at our club but obviously could be different elsewhere depending on local attitudes. Best bet is to give it a try and see what happens.
Sounds good to me. I like to be able to race competitively - I don't care if the is against the same capacity or Period bikes. As long as I win! As long as grids are determined from lap times of the last race/qualifying.
