Hello everyone. I have a 68' CB350 and need to replace the original carbs on it. I came across the Mikuni VM 32mm roundslides and thought it might be a good fit. Outside of the usual jetting applications does anyone know if these carbs will work with my bike? The bike is completley stock and all original in the motor. Thanks in advance for your help. Phil

| Well, the carbs just seem to be gummed up and there is some corrosion throughout. Cleaned and soaked for hours and got a little better response. Still floods in the left carb, adjusted float level still floods. I think the needle valve isnt seating properly. The bike will fire but will only stay lit for about 5 seconds before it dies. I do not like the CV w/butterfly type carbs so I dont mind going to something else anyway. Any suggestions? By the way, congrats to your fellow countryman Jason Crump. i know nothing about CB 350's but Ben seems to have made every mistake possible he may be able to help.
But if the bore is about the same why not try it?
Just out of interest was it Methanol or water that was left in the carby's. |

| Ok, I will wait to hear from Ben. The previous owner had left if full of petrol. The tank had to be totally resurfaced and the carbs were a big mess. Fortunately the valves were closed and plugs were in the head so the top end looks really good. If I can just get the damn carbs dialed in, this bike is gonna be a great ride. Thanks again. Phil |

Ummmmmm yeah, indeed I have, building the CB has been a hard road! However, I prefer to call them uniformed errors....... Still not quite there. Most people chuck the CV carbs and fit a set of mikunis (The VM round slides), mine are around 26-28mm I think, easy to pull apart and jets etc are plentiful. The 32mm mikunis would be fairly perfect, you may need to replace the rubber mount but these are easy to come across. If you want to stick with the CVs try contacting John on the following website, He has had luck with them on his clubman.

Ben,those carbs on John's look like CB450 ones,small floatbowl,round piston chambers on top are a giveaway,(at least with those you don't have to worry about rubber diaphragms perishing?),i'm giving my Keihins (SL350's) the flick,too hard finding suitable jets?,going to a(ni)mals (type 1 1/2)spigot mount 32mm,(atleast i have needles/jets for them), |
