I think historic racing in Australia, is all over except for the shouting. And we have done it to ourselves. Very few of the guys who ran it ever road-raced a solo. Most of our good guys were always too busy to put something back into the sport. In the old days, the best road race meetings were run by the Sandringham Club, which had the best solo riders. But which motorcycle clubs run road race meetings these days ?

Perhaps we should take a step back and start again from square one ?

Historic racing began in Victoria in October 1973. It was started by two guys from the Velocette Owners' Club - Derek Pickard and Peter Lord. Neither of them had ever raced.
